Mother, 20, arrested 'for brutally decapitating her three-month-old daughter'

• Deasia Watkins was found with her daughter's murdered body inside a home in College Hill, Ohio early on Monday
• Sources say baby Janiyah's head had been severed
• The baby had recently been removed from her mother's care and placed with another family member, according to reports
• Watkins was taken to hospital on Monday for a mental evaluation 

Arrest: Deasia Watkins, 20, allegedly severed her three-month-old baby's head early on Monday

A 20-year-old mother has been charged with murder after brutally decapitating her three-month-old daughter, law enforcement sources have said.

Deasia Watkins, from College Hill, Ohio, was arrested for aggravated murder on Monday after she was found inside a home on Waldway Lane with her murdered child.

Police would only say baby Janiyah, who was born in December, was killed by 'homicidal violence', but sources told Fox19 the child's head had been severed.

A group of children raised the alarm around 6am on Monday after finding Watkins with the baby's body inside the home, WKRC reported. Her relation to the children is not known.

'It was a lot of commotion going on out here this morning,' neighbor Jimmie Graham said on Monday. 'They had the crime tape up, and I figured when the crime tape was up, somebody got hurt or killed or something.

'She must have been out of her mind. I heard she cut the baby's head off.'

Watkins was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for a mental evaluation.

Janiyah had recently been removed from her mother's care and placed with a family member, according to WKRC, but Hamilton County Job and Family Services would not comment on the case.

Family members were seen visiting the home where the child's body was found on Monday.
