The candidate of the APC, Mr. James Abioudun Faleke has been returned
as winner of the Ikeja Federal Constituency in the last Saturday
election.
Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Returning Officer, Ikeja federal Constituency, Dr. Dele Ashiru, who made the declaration, later presented certificate of return to the winner, Faleke at about 5. 18 am today, Monday.
In the declared result of the constituency, Faleke polled 33,375 votes to defeat Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Mutiu who polled 25,447, while PPA polled 50.
The result for presidential in the constituency, is 29,893 for APC and 23,836 for PDP.
The senatorial result in the constituency for APC is 32.811 while PDP is 25,572.
Few minutes after the announcement of the results, Ashiru said “ By the power conferred on me as a returning officer Ikeja Federal constituency and by provisions of the Electoral Law as amended, I hereby return you (Faleke) elected.”
Reacting to the victory Faleke while commending INEC and the processes of the election, described the exercise as, “Very peaceful and violent free.”
The obviously elated Faleke, however, urged INEC to follow same peaceful process in declaration of senatorial and presidential elections.
He therefore, assured his supporters, who defied heavy rainfall and kept vigil throughout the conduct of the exercise in the constituency of his commitment to the development of their welfare and never to let them down in the course of his representation in Abuja.
“I am not only APC contestant, but also a coordinator of Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign train, so with this result so far, APC victory is guaranteed. I thank the party for giving me the double privilege of being a candidate to serve Nigeria and Lagos as a state. “ Faleke stated.

Also in a result announced yesterday by INEC officials at the Sura collation centre, Alhaji Yakub Balogun, All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Lagos Island Constituency II, polled 16,437 votes to defeat his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, opponent, Rahman Saleweh who polled 7,305 votes.
While, Dr. Dolapo Badru also of APC, Lagos Island Constituency I, polled 15,389 votes to defeat his PDP opponent Mrs. Adeoti Lukman who polled 5,732 votes.
However, at press time, Senator Oluremi Tinubu of the APC was having a comfortable lead in the contest for Lagos Central District ahead of her opponent, Ade Dosumu of the PDP.
