‘Buhari, Western Countries Never Agreed On Gay Marriage’

buhari
As reactions continue to trail the alleged agreement between the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari and four other Western nations on reverting laws prohibiting same-sex marriage in Nigeria, the Buhari Volunteers Network (BVN) has maintained that there was no such agreement at any time.

It would be recalled that the media director of Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Mr Femi Fani Kayode had stated that Buhari planned to grant his support for gay marriage if elected.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday, national coordinator of the network, Comrade Olayemi Success said the attacks by the ruling party are clearly out of frustration as they stand to be defeated in the forthcoming polls. He denied Buhari’s relationship with the Western nation as regards gay marriage saying the act is not in conformity with the country’s cultures and values.

He said “There is no relationship between General Buhari and any western nation concerning gay marriage and such pervasive orientations that are not in conformity with our cultures and values.”
The national coordinator said it is rather laughable to imagine that the APC presidential candidate if elected would solely descend to the level of upturning Acts of Parliament in the face of democracy.
“It is laughable and unreasonable for anybody to think that a man of General Buhari’s standing will at this age and stage descend to a level of upturning Acts of Parliament single-handedly in a democracy.”
Olayemi who also condemned the sack of the immediate past chairman of SURE-P following the lecture he delivered at Former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s birthday, said this was an indication that top government officials are strongly behind the call for Change.
