All Progressives Grand Alliance,
(APGA) yesterday advised supporters of All Progressives Congress, APC,
and Peoples Democratic Party,( PDP) to stop heating the polity with
their utterances.
This advice was given at a press conference addressed by the South West chairman of the party, Alhaji Tayo Sowunmi in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to him, both APC and PDP should stop behaving as if they are the only two parties in the country stressing there are over twenty other political parties in the land.
“We appeal to the PDP and APC to give peace a chance by ensuring that the campaign trains of opponents are not molested by stone-throwing ruffians and arms carrying thugs.”
“Both political parties should stop behaving as if they own Nigeria. PDP and APC leaders should stop pushing their lucks and realise that there are 23 other political parties capable of ruling as well, or even better,” the APGA chieftain stated.
The party, while welcoming the poll shift on security ground called on INEC not to shift the poll for a second time as that could trigger chaos in the country.
“Although APGA was initially vehemently opposed to a shift in the polls, we have taken it in good faith taking into consideration the security reasons cited by the Military and the inability of INEC to distribute PVCs to all registered voters.”
APGA called on the federal government to ensure the fight against Boko Haram is intensified to flush the insurgents from the country.
“We appeal to the federal government to double their efforts to annihilate the Boko Haram insurgents completely from the Nigerian soil within the next six weeks.”
APGA called on all stakeholders to stop making statements capable of instigating crisis.
“We appeal to all stakeholders in the Nigeria project – all political parties, civil organisations, Right groups and elder statesmen to stop beating drums of war through inflammatory declarations based on ethnic or religious sentiments.”
