A jealous housewife in Okpoko
community Area, Anambra State, simply identified as Maryanna, has
allegedly bathed her rival with acid water and thereafter jumped into
River Niger, our correspondent gathered.
The report said the housewife had complained of the frequent visits to the husband by the woman. On one of the visits, Maryanna was said to have warned her that she would teach her a lesson.
It was reliably gathered that the husband, a well-known businessman, started dating another woman when the wife became unruly.
It was gathered that she sometimes attacked the husband with dangerous weapons.
At some point, she was said to have ambushed her rival and poured substances suspected to be acid on her face. Police sources at the Okpoko Division Police Station said that the housewife disappeared after she attacked the rival
Anambra State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Uche Eze, said he has no report of the incident, but police sources close to the Okpoko Division Police, confirmed that the husband of the woman who had jumped into the River was arrested, disclosing that the incident took place on Valentine’s Day, Saturday evening at Okpoko community by the River Niger Bank.
She said that the corpse of the woman was yet to be found in the water, while the acid victim was rushed to a private hospital in Onitsha and is currently receiving treatment”, he said.
