Voters in Garaku
ward, Kokona local government area of Nasarawa State on Saturday
protested over the late arrival of election materials to the entire ward
when other wards in the local government commenced accreditation as
early as 8am.
When LEADERSHIP
visited a few minutes after 1pm, voters had gathered in their hundreds
at the Pilot Primary School I and II polling units with accreditation
yet to commence.
A voter, Mr. Jacob
Chorio, pointed out that election materials were brought to the ten
polling units within the ward but were incomplete in all the units,
adding that voters refused to commence the exercise until all the
materials are completed.
At the time of
filing this report, party agents and INEC staff had gone back to INEC
headquarters in Lafia, the state capital, to rectify the problem.
Mrs. Anna Musa, who
waited for hours with four of her children expressed their resolve to
wait for as long as it would take for her and her children to cast their
votes.
Other voters who
spoke to our reporter expressed the same resolve, vowing to keep vigil
if the need arises for the to be able to fulfil their civic duties.
