Abia
In Abia State, however, INEC declared the candidate of the PDP, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, winner of the governorship election in the state.
Dr Ikpeazu polled 264,713 votes to defeat his closest rival, Dr Alex Otti, of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who polled 180,882 votes.
Meanwhile, Dr Otti has rejected the result, saying he would head to the tribunal to seek redress.
Otti, who accused the commission of aiding the ruling PDP in rigging the election, saying he would stop at nothing to ensure that the mandate of the people was not stolen.
Speaking to reporters on the announcement at his campaign office yesterday, Otti said INEC was not fair to his party as it did not disclose the venues and units where the elections were to be held until Friday evening.
“I have never seen an organization that performs its duties as disjointedly as INEC did,” he said.

Taraba
The gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Taraba State, Darius Dickson Ishaku, was yesterday declared winner of Taraba governorship election by INEC.
Ishaku won in 10 of 16 local governments areas of the state, polling 369,318 votes to beat the APC candidate, Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan who won in 6 local governments with 275,984 votes.
Taraba governorship election went into a runoff after INEC declared the April 11 election inconclusive and ordered run-off election in 218 voting points across 10 local governments on April 25.
The PDP candidate had gone into the run-off with a comfortable margin of 54,812 and sealed his victory with 52,120 votes against the APC 13,598, giving the APC candidate a margin of 93,334 votes.
Reacting to his victory, Ishaku thanked the people of the state for voting him and commended INEC and security agencies for ensuring that the wishes of the people prevailed in the state.
He commended the acting governor for standing above the sentiments promoted during the campaigns and promised to deliver on his campaign promises.
APC candidate, Senator Alhassan, could not be reached for comment, but the state APC agent in the election, Alhaji Umar Abubakar Gambo, who refused to sign the result, said his party would challenge the election result at the tribunal.
“We have already written petitions to INEC over irregularities in Yorro, Zing, Wukari, Lau, Bali, Takum and Kurmi, among others. We will challenge the election at the tribunal and, if we lose, we will continue up to Supreme Court,” he said.
Umar called on APC supporters to remain calm, adding that the struggle for change that would liberate the state had just began.
