Accreditation
of eligible voters is yet to commence in the four local government
areas that make up Ogoni ethnic nationality as at 11.15 am following the
non-arrival of election materials in the various polling units in the
local government areas.
They are Eleme, Khana, Gokana and Tai local government areas.
Also,
accreditation is yet to commence in all the polling units in Okrika,
the home-town of the First Lady, Dame Patience Faka Jonathan, due the
non-arrival of election materials to the areas.
There
are also no officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) anywhere in all the polling units in the four local government
areas that make up Ogoni land.
According
to a source at the INEC RAC centre in Saakpenwa, headquarters of Tai
local government area, all materials for the election have moved out of
the centre to the various polling units in the local government area.
However,
while there are security men at the various polling units in Okrika,
there is no presence of security agents in almost all the polling units
in Khana and Gokana local government areas of the state.
This
is there were reported shooting in Bomu community in Gokana local
government area, which followed the destruction of ballot boxes for the
Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in the community.
When
contacted, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Ahmad
Muhammad, said the non-presence of security men at the polling units was
due to the non-arrival of materials.
