
Workers in both state and federal establishments in Kwara state tuesday
lauded President Muhammadu Buhari's gesture for rising to the welfare
of teeming workers on the releasing of N413.7bn bail out to federal and
36 states of the federation for the payment of outstanding workers
salaries in the country.
A visit by our correspondent to Federal Secretariat along Fate road,
Ilorin and State Secretariat, Ahmadu Bello way, on Tuesday showed
workers in happy mood over the gesture of president Buhari to help
states to pay their outstanding workers salaries.
It was gathered that, while some federal workers in the state had been
owed few months, workers in the state public service had been owed two
months.
Sources close to the affected workers told our correspondent that, some
of of them had not been able to meet their financial obligations either
to their immediate family or to well wishers, moreso, during the
ongoing Ramadan fast.
However, in a chat with our correspondent in Ilorin on Tuesday, a
federal civil servant, Mallam Issa Jackson lauded president Buhari for
rising to the needs of workers.
According to him,"it is worrisome that, the payment of salaries of
workers had not been met for past few months and this has affected the
socio well being of our families".
He said that,"i want to say that, with this new life line to the
federal and states of federation, a new lease of life would now come
teeming workforce in the country.
Also, a speaking, Mogaji Ghali Adisa, said that the news of release of
bail out funds had succeeded in bringing about a fresh air of hope to
Nigerian masses.
Mogaji Adisa, who said that the development would have spiral economic
effect in the country, added that when workers spend their salaries
other people would benefit.
He however appealed to the governors to ensure the payment of the
salaries as soon as they received the bail out so as to add values to
the socio economic development of the nation.
