"I'm a writer with no words.... Bobbi Kris," Perry wrote.
The filmmaker has been quiet in the days since Bobbi Kristina died on Sunday, July 26, at the age of 22. He previously spoke about the young woman during the months that she spent in the hospital and in hospice care.
A longtime close personal friend of the late Houston, Perry last tweeted on July 17, days before Bobbi Kristina's death. He shared a link to a Facebook post at the time, writing, "This morning I woke up with Whitney on my mind. I couldn't help but think about all that she must have dreamed for her child. I know this was not her dream."
Bobbi Kristina famously had to say goodbye to her mother in 2012, when the iconic singer died at the age of 48. Perry touched on Houston's death in an Oprah's Next Chapter interview in 2013, mourning the star's loss two years before he would have to do the same for her daughter.
"I felt a huge responsibility for her, for Whitney, herself," he told Oprah Winfrey at the time. "From the first day we sat down [together] and had a conversation where she was so open with me, I felt a responsibility to do all I could to help her... I sensed, like most people who deal with people who have addiction issues, they sense that there is a 'death day' coming."
Perry is just one of many stars who have mourned Bobbi Kristina and sent their condolences in recent days. Amongst messages from Oprah Winfrey, Taraji P. Henson, and Diddy, Houston's cousin Dionne Warwick said in an interview, "She will be missed, that's for sure. She was a good girl. She was a good little girl. She really was... I think it's because of our faith and strength in faith, knowing that Bobbi is now with a much, much bigger and more powerful person, or thing...than we'll ever know. She's in much better hands now."
