Two Florida teens are facing first-degree murder and robbery charges after allegedly beating their neighbor to death and then leaving his body to rot in his hot tub.
Bryan Robinson and Tyzick Wall were collared Tuesday after Citrus County deputies say the 17-year-olds later bragged about the sick act which reportedly involved a crowbar.
"Several witnesses had actually heard the suspects blabbing about how they committed this," Lt. Brad Smith told Bay News 9.
Following up on tips, detectives found Stephen Gorney's badly decomposed body soaking in his Crystal River home's hot tub.
The 54-year-old's home had also been looted with his van, two motorcycles and cash missing from the property.
The van was later found completely submerged in a pond.
Deputies say the two teens plotted to rob Gorney for weeks before finally carrying out the attack.
That decision followed them initially approaching Gorney for work.
"The suspects live in the area," Sgt. Steven Casada, Citrus County Sheriff's Office told Bay News 9. "They've done some work at the homeowner's residence and have hung out there."
Authorities suspect the pair went to Gorney's home in the middle of the night about two to three weeks ago.
They then stole his belongings and then savagely beat him to death.
"After doing that, after ransacking the residence and getting everything they wanted, they proceeded to drag him into the hot tub and left him for dead," Smith said.
Robinson and Wall are charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery and grand theft.
